The market opened up once leading brands realised travellers needed something lighter and more packable when going abroad backpacking. Constant innovations in this niche, particularly in the last ten years, has given us a significant and ever improved lightweight sleeping bag; developments were made in designs and shapes, advanced materials and such things as zips were stripped to their bear minimum without compromising on comfort. However, it is generally accepted that the options now available are about as low in weight as it is possible to go although this doesn’t stop manufacturers from trying to improve on their products.
